Tornado in Mobile: help the Harbor district rebuild
The tornado damaged 15 homes in the Harbor district. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The tornado hit the Harbor district on 11 July. My home was one of 15 damaged, and 13 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $5,350 goes:
• Tools and labor for repairs: $960
• Roofing sheets and timber: $3,300
• Clean water and purification supplies: $1,090
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Good luck, Benjamin. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My husband and I read this together
You're not alone, Benjamin. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in Dar es Salaam this morning.
wishing you the best, Benjamin. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Wishing you the best. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
