Ties is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a teaching qualification at the Nijmegen Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $2,800.
The registrar has said Ties can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Ties has a 3.8 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Ties would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Ties isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $910
• Final term tuition: $1,600
• Exam and lab fees: $220
• Textbooks and materials: $70
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
