I live with cerebral palsy. My occupational therapist at the Amsterdam Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $3,350.
My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment I could join the school sports day. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $3,350 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $2,850
• Fitting and training sessions: $270
• Delivery and set-up: $60
• First-year servicing plan: $170
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
