I'm caring for me, who's 83. After a stroke last August Thủy can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Thủy desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Thủy worked all of her life as a seamstress, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $3,350 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $1,850
• Medication and prescriptions: $510
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $370
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $620

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Thủy.
Part-time carer (three months) is $1,850 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
