The Unity vacant lot needs a youth football pitch - Kato's neighborhood project
A community-led a youth football pitch at the Unity vacant lot that will serve 500 neighbors.
🇺🇬 Mbarara, Western Region, Uganda1,005 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $45, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 500 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
• Materials: $360
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
Every share and every dollar helps.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Mbarara
It takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best.
So sorry you're going through this, Kato. I hope things turn around soon. All the best.
