The Unity vacant lot needs a covered market stall space - Emily's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Newport are raising $3,200 for a covered market stall space at the Unity vacant lot.
🇬🇧 Wales, United Kingdom957 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,200.
It will serve about 91 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,200 goes:
• Materials: $2,350
• Permits and inspections: $145
• Safety equipment and signage: $320
• Tools hire and delivery: $385
Thanks for reading all this.

can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Newport.
Thank you. If you're in Newport I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Ask me anything else.
