The Unity health centre yard needs a community garden - Jagadish's neighborhood project

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $125, and the remaining cost is $650. It will serve about 161 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $650 goes: • Materials: $480 • Permits and inspections: $40 • Safety equipment and signage: $75 • Tools hire and delivery: $55 Glad we found this place.
