For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 540 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $450 goes: • Materials: $320 • Permits and inspections: $30 • Safety equipment and signage: $45 • Tools hire and delivery: $55 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Kidus
