The Unity community hall needs a skate park - Hiroto's neighborhood project
A community-led a skate park at the Unity community hall that will serve 386 neighbors.
🇯🇵 Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan527 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $640, and the remaining cost is $2,050.
It will serve about 386 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Materials: $1,200
• Permits and inspections: $290
• Safety equipment and signage: $340
• Tools hire and delivery: $220
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Updates from Hiroto
Good news. Because of your gifts ($140 in total) I made the first payment toward tools hire and delivery. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Update from Kawasaki: the plan for materials is now scheduled. We're at 4% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Hiroto
Sure. The biggest one is materials, $1,200. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Ask me anything else.
sending strength. Great idea, hope you get there. Thinking of Kawasaki.
