The Unity community hall needs a covered market stall space - Janet's neighborhood project
A community-led a covered market stall space at the Unity community hall that will serve 352 neighbors.
🇺🇸 Oakland, California, United States1,403 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,900.
It will serve about 352 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,900 goes:
• Materials: $2,100
• Permits and inspections: $185
• Safety equipment and signage: $350
• Tools hire and delivery: $265
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
