The Union community hall needs a rainwater harvesting system - Hira's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Islamabad are raising $300 for a rainwater harvesting system at the Union community hall.
🇵🇰 Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan1,594 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 252 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Materials: $250
• Permits and inspections: $15
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
Glad we found this place.
