The Union community hall needs a free library and reading room - Luana's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Guarulhos are raising $1,250 for a free library and reading room at the Union community hall.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,250.
It will serve about 522 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $95
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
• Materials: $1,105
