Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Thursday from the back of a community center. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 291 each week. Donations have dropped by about 59% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Atlanta market and keep every receipt. Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $3,250 goes: • Refrigeration and electricity: $135 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,400 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,715 With deep gratitude, Guadalupe

Updates from Guadalupe

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($196 in total) I made the first payment toward fresh vegetables and fruit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Quick update: $71 raised so far (2%). the first invoice got paid this week. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

Keep going, Guadalupe. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My neighbor in Celaya donated after I showed her your page. Take care.

        • Hope it all works out, Guadalupe. It takes guts to ask. Well done. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

A colleague of mine might know someone for this in Georgia. I'll ask around and let you know.
