The Second Helping: keep the shelves full this winter
Lillian runs a volunteer pantry feeding 114 families; this fund restocks shelves for the winter.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Sunday from the back of a community center. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 114 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 32% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the San Jose market and keep every receipt.
Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,150
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $910
• Baby formula and diapers: $290
• Refrigeration and electricity: $150
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Hope it all works out. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Wish I lived closer to Lucknow so I could bring a meal
Good luck, Lillian. This could happen to any of us. Thinking of San Jose.
Good luck, Lillian. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 14 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
