The Pioneer health centre yard needs a sensory garden for children with autism - Otávio's neighborhood project

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $800 for materials.

🇧🇷 Brazil838 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $180, and the remaining cost is $800. It will serve about 411 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $800 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $90 • Permits and inspections: $45 • Materials: $665 Thank you so much. - Otávio

Keep going, Otávio. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Greetings from São Paulo

You're not alone, Otávio. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Sent it to 32 people at work.

        • Hope things get better soon. Looking forward to the next update. Wish I lived closer to Zaria so I could bring a meal.
