For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $250.
It will serve about 222 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $250 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
• Permits and inspections: $95
• Safety equipment and signage: $65

Hope things get better soon, Simone. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Blessings.
Hang in there. Shared it with a few friends. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Multan.
hope it all works out. I hope things turn around soon. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
You're not alone, Simone. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes
Thinking of you and your family, Simone. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best
