Volunteers in Bellevue are raising $2,900 for a sensory garden for children with autism at the old Unity bus depot.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,900.
It will serve about 173 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,900 goes:
• Materials: $1,500
• Permits and inspections: $360
• Safety equipment and signage: $420
• Tools hire and delivery: $620
