The old Unity bus depot needs a free library and reading room - Bhavna's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Mangaluru are raising $650 for a free library and reading room at the old Unity bus depot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $130, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 98 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Materials: $500
• Safety equipment and signage: $75
• Permits and inspections: $75
