For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,250. It will serve about 219 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,250 goes: • Materials: $790 • Permits and inspections: $160 • Safety equipment and signage: $150 • Tools hire and delivery: $150 Thank you for reading my story.

Wishing you peace. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 23 years in hospitality I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Greetings from Albuquerque!

    • Good luck. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from Kingston.

      • Stay strong. Shared it with a few friends. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Lahore.
