For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Maple bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $650. It will serve about 237 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $650 goes: • Materials: $510 • Permits and inspections: $60 • Safety equipment and signage: $30 • Tools hire and delivery: $50 I hope life is good to you. - Oky

Best of luck, Oky. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't give up. God bless.
