The old Lotus bus depot needs a solar-powered water pump - Lucas's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Ribeirão Preto are raising $1,050 for a solar-powered water pump at the old Lotus bus depot.
Anywhere in the world2,140 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Lotus bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,050.
It will serve about 590 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $130
• Materials: $790
• Permits and inspections: $130
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
