The old Lotus bus depot needs a community fridge - Levi's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $3,800 for materials.
🇨🇦 Mississauga, Ontario, Canada397 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Lotus bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $3,800.
It will serve about 213 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,800 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $510
• Materials: $2,950
• Safety equipment and signage: $340
Thank you for reading my story.

can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Mississauga.
Thank you. If you're in Mississauga I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. It helps to be asked.
Thinking of you, Levi. Shared this with my family. Thinking of Mississauga
Sending love, Levi. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Mississauga
your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Mississauga.
