For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,550. It will serve about 525 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,550 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $280 • Permits and inspections: $230 • Materials: $2,040 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Louis

Sending love, Louis. I hope things turn around soon. Wish I lived closer to Addis Ababa so I could bring a meal. Love from Duque de Caxias.

Stay strong, Louis. More neighborhoods should do this. All the best.
