The old Freedom bus depot needs a free library and reading room - Pilar's neighborhood project
A community-led a free library and reading room at the old Freedom bus depot that will serve 158 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,250.
It will serve about 158 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Materials: $730
• Permits and inspections: $185
• Safety equipment and signage: $195
• Tools hire and delivery: $140
