León

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,400. It will serve about 219 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,400 goes: • Materials: $1,050 • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $120 • Tools hire and delivery: $185 Thanks for being kind about this.
