For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Acacia bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,800. It will serve about 344 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,800 goes: • Materials: $1,050 • Permits and inspections: $250 • Safety equipment and signage: $170 • Tools hire and delivery: $330 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
