The Maple vacant lot needs a skate park - Afia's neighborhood project

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $250. It will serve about 95 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $250 goes: • Materials: $150 • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $15 Glad we found this place. - Afia
