Volunteers in Glendale are raising $2,300 for a sensory garden for children with autism at the Maple community hall.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,300.
It will serve about 229 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• Materials: $1,550
• Permits and inspections: $170
• Safety equipment and signage: $250
• Tools hire and delivery: $330
