Nairobi
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 542 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $450 goes: • Materials: $320 • Permits and inspections: $50 • Safety equipment and signage: $25 • Tools hire and delivery: $55 Thanks for reading all this.

Updates from Byaruhanga

  1. Update from Nairobi: I made the first payment toward tools hire and delivery. We're at 16% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Quick update: $36 raised so far (8%). the plan for safety equipment and signage is now scheduled. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
