The Lotus health centre yard needs a rainwater harvesting system - Ssebuliba's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Mombasa are raising $300 for a rainwater harvesting system at the Lotus health centre yard.
Anywhere in the world675 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 334 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Materials: $190
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
Glad we found this place.

sending love, Ssebuliba. This could happen to any of us. Greetings from Fresno.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ssebuliba
You're not alone. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Rooting for you. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I went through something like this 11 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless
Thanks for sharing this, Ssebuliba. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer.
Good luck, Ssebuliba. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in Santos donated after I showed her your page.
