The Lotus health centre yard needs a free library and reading room - Manal's neighborhood project

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $100, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 423 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $600 goes: • Materials: $480 • Permits and inspections: $30 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $35 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
