The Lotus community hall needs a free library and reading room - Ashwin's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Durgapur are raising $550 for a free library and reading room at the Lotus community hall.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 593 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $510
• Safety equipment and signage: $20
• Permits and inspections: $20
I hope life is good to you.

Hope it all works out. Your post was clear and honest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.
Thinking of you, Ashwin. Hope you get there. Put this on a community board in Dasmariñas this morning.
