The Lotus canal cleanup and restoration: help our volunteer crew
Help us clean and replant the Lotus canal before the September planting window closes.
🇻🇳 Hồ Chí Minh City, Hồ Chí Minh City, Vietnam1,822 views
The Lotus canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 81 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 172 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $95
• Tools and protective gear: $80
• Waste removal and skip hire: $125
• Signage and educational materials: $50

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Vinh.
Native saplings and stakes is $95 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Fair thing to want to know.
Hope it all works out, Vinh. Looking forward to the next update. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. God bless.
How is Vinh doing now?
