The Jacaranda vacant lot needs a solar-powered water pump - Junaid's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Islamabad are raising $300 for a solar-powered water pump at the Jacaranda vacant lot.
🇵🇰 Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan380 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 237 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Materials: $175
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $75
With deep gratitude,
Junaid
