Volunteers in Hamilton are raising $1,650 for a rainwater harvesting system at the Jacaranda vacant lot.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,200, and the remaining cost is $1,650.
It will serve about 525 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Materials: $1,050
• Permits and inspections: $130
• Safety equipment and signage: $145
• Tools hire and delivery: $325
