Volunteers in Macon are raising $800 for a solar-powered water pump at the Jacaranda health centre yard.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 487 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $800 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $360
• Permits and inspections: $115
• Safety equipment and signage: $325
