The Freedom vacant lot needs a playground - Oliver's neighborhood project
A community-led a playground at the Freedom vacant lot that will serve 512 neighbors.
🇺🇸 Tampa, Florida, United States1,010 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,250, and the remaining cost is $2,500.
It will serve about 512 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $290
• Materials: $2,000
• Tools hire and delivery: $210
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

best of luck, Oliver. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Wish I lived closer to Eindhoven so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Tampa.
Thinking of you and your family, Oliver. Hope this works out for you. I'm in teaching myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care.
