The Freedom hillside cleanup and restoration: help our volunteer crew
Volunteers are restoring the Freedom hillside in Sacramento; $2,350 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

The Freedom hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 56 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 64 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $790
• Tools and protective gear: $540
• Waste removal and skip hire: $790
• Signage and educational materials: $230

what exactly is the $2,350 for?
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. native saplings and stakes comes first ($790) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. I'll keep the page updated.
