The Freedom health centre yard needs a solar-powered water pump - Thilina's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $650 for materials.
🇱🇰 Sri Lanka700 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $185, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 539 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $650 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Materials: $540
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

hope it all works out, Thilina. Shared it with a few friends
projects like this are what make a place worth living in. After 19 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care
