For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $3,600.
It will serve about 216 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,600 goes:
• Materials: $2,900
• Permits and inspections: $290
• Safety equipment and signage: $195
• Tools hire and delivery: $215
Thanks for reading all this.
