For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,700. It will serve about 473 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,700 goes: • Materials: $1,000 • Permits and inspections: $145 • Safety equipment and signage: $240 • Tools hire and delivery: $315 Thank you for reading my story.
