For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,250. It will serve about 201 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,250 goes: • Permits and inspections: $155 • Materials: $1,800 • Tools hire and delivery: $295 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Permits and inspections is $155 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for asking.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 25 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Sacramento
