For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia community hall, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 503 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $600 goes: • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $60 • Materials: $495 Glad we found this place.
