For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia community hall, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 513 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $200 • Permits and inspections: $50 • Safety equipment and signage: $20 • Tools hire and delivery: $30 I hope life is good to you.

  • you're not alone, Komal. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money

    • Rooting for you. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

hope you get there. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Ikeja.
