After a car accident that kept me from work for 4 weeks, Thanh fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $250. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, the family must leave. There are 1 children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Thanh has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $250 goes: • Utilities in arrears: $25 • First month of rent as a buffer: $150 • Late fees and court costs: $75 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Sure. The biggest one is utilities in arrears, $25. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.

    • Good luck, Ngân. I hope things turn around soon. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

      • is there anything that isn't money that would help Thanh?
