Thabisa needs a cutting table and overlocker to reopen a sewing studio
Thabisa has run a sewing studio for nine years; a break-in destroyed the equipment, and $650 will put it back on its feet.

For nine years I have run a sewing studio in Pietermaritzburg. In June, a break-in took a cutting table and overlocker. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $650 goes:
• Working capital for the first month: $70
• Replacing a cutting table and overlocker: $340
• Initial stock: fabric: $240
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Thabisa.
It's all in the list in the story. working capital for the first month is the big one at $70, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. It helps to be asked.
so sorry you're going through this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I hope September is when things finally get easier.
any update on how things are going in Pietermaritzburg?
Thinking of you, Thabisa. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
So sorry you're going through this, Thabisa. Hope you get there. Love from Odesa.
