Terry was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in September. The surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $6,950 short. my husband has been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital since September. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Terry struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Terry won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $6,950 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,250 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,300 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $360 • Post-operative medication: $180 • Physiotherapy sessions: $700 • Travel and lodging for the family: $160 Every share and every dollar helps. - Jocelyn
