Tenant-rights advice for Harold in Los Angeles: a short consultation
A brief consultation with a housing advisor would help Harold understand their rights.

My landlord in Los Angeles has given me a withheld security deposit. I've read what I can online, but the rules are confusing and different sources contradict each other.
I'm hoping that someone with experience in housing or tenant rights in California could spare 20-30 minutes to explain the process, the deadlines and the documents I should collect.
I have my lease, all communications and photos organized. I'm happy to share them privately. I can't pay for a lawyer, so any guidance on free services in California would also be appreciated.
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

- Great help in a difficult time
I can't speak highly enough about this helper. They were available when I needed them, supportive when I felt lost, and practical in their solutions.

Stay strong, Harold. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Wish I lived closer to Kelowna so I could bring a meal. Love from Erie
