Tayyaba's a partial thyroidectomy can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled a partial thyroidectomy in September is out of reach without help covering $850 of the cost.

In May I was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst. My surgeon at Saint Elizabeth Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for September. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,700, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $850 short.
Doctors at Saint Elizabeth Hospital told me a large ovarian cyst will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a taxi driver, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,700 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a taxi driver have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $850 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $440
• Post-operative medication: $20
• Travel and lodging for the family: $25
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $285

Wishing you the best, Tayyaba. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
You're not alone. I hope things turn around soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Hanoi.
