Sycamore Park needs a rainwater harvesting system - Nga's neighborhood project
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at Sycamore Park that will serve 80 neighbors.
Anywhere in the world1,866 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $600.
It will serve about 80 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $600 goes:
• Materials: $460
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

hang in there, Nga. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Greetings from Likoni.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nga.
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. materials is the biggest at $460. Thanks, that means a lot.
thinking of you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Put this on a community board in Dar es Salaam this morning.
You're not alone. Shared it with a few friends. My neighbor in Stockholm donated after I showed her your page. Love from Stockholm
